‘‘Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside awakes.’’ ^ Carl Jung

Having gained a Master of Design: Photography degree at Edinburgh College of Art, Kate Pollard explores issues surrounding the sense of ‘‘self ’’ and the pressures of conforming to a variety of ideals in society today. She expresses these issues in her photographic images. ‘‘It is a personal reaction to being in a state of looking within, while reconciling external expectations.’’

Kate’s work will be profiled in the next issue of Portfolio magazine and four of her images will be part of a small group show in Gallery 10G in New York in July 2007.
