Gillian McConnell is a prize-winning artist who expresses herself in paintings, poetry, and sculpture. In June 2007, Gillian brings to Broughton Gallery a series of watercolours which were painted directly from subjects in and around Sesto Fiorentino, near Florence, to illustrate a charming book entitled ‘‘Un’ Amicizia Elettronica An Email Friendship’’. The book grew out of a long correspondence between Maria Quercioli Bosi in Sesto Fiorentino and Caroline Higgit in Edinburgh. ‘‘The paintings were executed in an idyllic, early summer 2006 ^ I hope they convey some of the domestic warmth and affection of the book’’. Copies of the book will be on sale during the exhibition of Gillian’s paintings.

Gillian is a regular exhibitor with the RSW (the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour).
