Born into a family of artists, Columbine Hobart has always painted. A childhood spent abroad in such contrasting places as Kenya and Germany has made her acutely aware of the natural environment and the richness and variety of what it offers by way of inspiration. Hence, her subjects are drawn from nature: landscapes, seascapes, animals. She works mainly in watercolour but also uses acrylic, oils and mixed media.

Columbine has exhibited, in the main, in London and the Home Counties. She now lives in Edinburgh with her family and two young children from where she continues to paint for exhibitions and to commission.
