Claire Blyth is noted for her "accomplished work" and "fine figure drawing" (W. Gordon Smith, The Scotsman) and this small series of work sees Blyth abstract the figure and place it in the context of Time. Her figures seem frozen in Time.

This is a rich subject matter. From starting points in literature, travel and history, Blyth draws on a store of symbols, making connections between Nature and man's imprint. Using mixed media and collage, she depicts life and the rites of life through time. Her layering technique reflect both the shaping of identity and the traces we leave behind.

Claire Blyth was born in Dundee and studied at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh College of Art, the Open College of Art and Leith School of Art. She lives and works in the Scottish Borders.
