Bella Green was born and educated in Glasgow. She studied at Harrow School of Art and was awarded her degree in Painting and Printmaking at Norwich School of Art. She also has a post-graduate degree in Art Education from Leicester. Bella became a painter while lecturing in Art and Design at the Royal College of Art in London. Now living in the Scottish Borders, Bella Green alternates her time between the west coast of Scotland where she lived for many years before settling in the Borders, and Italy where she teaches and paints at the Centro d’Arte in Verrochio and at a summer school in Tuscany. Working in oils, acrylic, charcoal and ink, Bella seeks to explore and use colour in an expressionist way in order to convey a special mood, the feeling of light or of heat. She enjoys both dramatic contrasts and passing, subtle nuances of colour and free gestural brushwork. Since 1993, Bella Green has been a Professional Elected Member of the Scottish Society of Artists and Artist Craftsmen, now Visual Arts Scotland (VAS). |
