Andrew Burke was born and brought up in Glasgow. His study of Art began in 1967 at Carlisle College of Art and Design and continued at Edinburgh College of Art where he studied Drawing and Painting. During his postgraduate course at ECA, Andrew won a David Murray Landscape Scholarship from the Royal Academy in London.

Andrew exhibits at the Royal Glasgow Institute, the Royal Scottish Academy and at the Royal Academy.

All of Andrew’s work is landscape-based, acrylic on board. His work is influenced by and based on summers spent in Caithness, the starkness and bleakness of which made an indelible impression on him. Common motifs in Andrew’s paintings are boats, animals and birds, especially gulls ^ but, rarely humans.
