Caroline O達rien痴 interest in jewellery-making began in childhood. Growing up in the warmth of the South African sun, she would dry apple and melon seeds and thread them up into necklaces with glass beads. Her first experience of selling her work was at a craft market before she was even ten years old.

Years later, at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen, it was Creating Textiles that more appealed to Caroline as the subject choice for her Degree ^ Jewellery was her second choice. But, after spending the first term in the Jewellery Department, her plan changed. The mix of traditional and ancient techniques with contemporary design to create small sculptural pieces of adornment, she found exciting. 荘The process between the design and the finished article is time consuming and meticulous but incredibly rewarding.鋳

After graduating, Caroline worked for a stone and pearl supplier in London and discovered unusual shapes and colours to use in her work. Today, in addition to making jewellery, Caroline O達rien teaches Jewellery at a Further Education college in Fife, where she lives with her family. She is inspired by the textures and colours of the Scottish landscape and works mainly in silver, constantly experimenting with different textural techniques, introducing colour with stone beads and enamel.
