Since leaving Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1995 with a Bachelor of Design Honours Degree in Ceramics, Charlotte Cadzow has been producing and exhibiting her ceramics and paintings while teaching ceramics at the Leith School of Art and at Loretto School. Her work has taken her to New Zealand and Japan where she worked with the Japanese Potter Ryoji Koie. ‘‘My ceramics and paintings mirror my love of the diverse themes of nature mixed with ancient mythology and the Sea’’. Charlotte’s work has been exhibited in many galleries throughout the UK including the Victoria and Albert Museum, in London and the Royal Museum of Scotland and it is held in private collections around the world. ‘‘I like to experiment using different materials. My hope is that the finished product will have a use as well as being decorative. All my works are hand built and/or thrown on the wheel, using a diverse range of clay glazes and glaze firings. Raku and stoneware firings produce vibrant copper lustres and rich oxide glazes.’’ Charlotte’s most recent work includes earthenware firings of her animal guardian jars. |
